Hartwell Baker, General Manager
Hartwell joined the PGA of America in 1996. He was born and raised in Bennettsville, South Carolina and graduated from the Professional Golf Management Program at Ferris State University in Big Rapids, Michigan. Ferris State is the pinnacle program of its kind and has produced some of the industry’s top management professionals.
Early in his career, Hartwell completed college internships for Mr. Gary Schaal, Past President of the PGA of America and Mr. Jim Westbrook, a 2010 Carolinas PGA Hall of Fame inductee. Hartwell worked as an assistant professional at several Carolinas Section golf courses before becoming General Manager and Head Professional at Marion Lake Club, Marion, NC in 1997. During his 10 year tenure at Marion, he grew as a professional and gained a wealth of experience in overall facility operations. He enjoys every aspect of facility management from balancing budgets to tournament management and merchandising.
Before coming to Reems Creek in November of 2012, Hartwell spent two years with the PGA Tour Academy as Head Instructor at Shipyard Golf Club in Hilton Head Island, SC. He enjoys the Western North Carolina area and wants to establish Reems Creek as Asheville’s most desired place to play golf. He is also interested in growing the membership and creating fun tournaments and social events. Hartwell has two sons Hart (16) and Noah (14).
David L’Italien, Golf Course Superintendent
David has been with Warrior since September 2014. He is the Director of Agronomy for all Warrior courses as well as the Superintendent at Reems Creek Golf Club. He has a degree in Horticulture and Turfgrass Management from Sandhills Community College, located in Pinehurst, North Carolina.
He has previously worked at several properties, including Forest Creek Golf Club, Pinehurst Resort, and Quail Hollow Club.
David is also a veteran of the US Navy and has thru-hiked the Appalachian Trail.
